A Field of Sixteen to Compete For the $647,500 Little Brown Jug

A talented field of sixteen sophomore colt pacers will go post-ward Thursday afternoon (September 18) looking to capture the 69th Little Brown Jug presented by Fazoli's. The field will be divided into two $103,600 eliminations with the first four finishers advancing to the $310,800 final. If a race-off would be necessary, the three horse event would go for $129,500.

McWicked drew the rail in the second and arguably the toughest elimination. He's Watching drew the six hole in the same elimination.

McWicked is coming into the Little Brown Jug off a 1:48.4 victory in the Pennsylvania Sire Stakes Final at Harrah's Philadelphia. With the victory, the son of McArdle went over the million dollar mark in career earnings. McWicked is owned S S G Stable and conditioned by Casie Coleman. Coleman is looking to become the first trainer to win back-to-back-to-back Jug titles.

"I am always thrilled to draw the rail at Delaware,” noted Coleman. “We are in the toughest division, but I like where we are starting."

He's Watching is the reigning two-year-old champion and has earned $1 million in career earnings for trainer David Menary, Brad Gray, Michael Guerriero and Muscara Racing Trust. The son of American Ideal will be piloted by Tim Tetrick.

Despite drawing the seven hole, Lyonssomewhere was tapped as the 5-2 choice in the first elimination.

The Cane Pace winner Lyonssomewhere became Jug eligible when his connection paid the $45,000 supplemental fee to enter the 69th Little Brown Jug. Lyonssomewhere is owned by Geoffrey Lyons Mound. The Somebeachsomewhere colt will be driven by Yannick Gingras and is conditioned by Jimmy Takter.

"The outside post isn't the greatest, but I would rather have the seven hole in that elimination than the three or four hole in the second elimination," commented Gingras.

The pacing classic will air live from 5:00 - 6:30 pm on the CBS Sports Network.
