Wild Honey Set New WR in Standardbred 2FT
The two-year-old filly Wild Honey re-wrote the record books with her 1:55.2 victory in the Standardbred trot. The time surpassed the great CR Kay Susie’s 1:56.3 set in 1994.
Driver Yannick Gingras sent Wild Honey off the gates wings and was never challenged trough the fractions of :28.4, :57.3 and 1:25.4. She cruised home in :29.3 to set the new world mark.
Hot Start (David Miller) was 9 ¾ lengths back in second. Gee O’Keeffe (Aaron Merriman) was third.
The Cantab Hall filly is trained by Jimmy Takter for Christina Takter, John Fielding, Herb Liverman and Jim Fielding.
In the first $32,323 division, Sweet Shuga (Ron Pierce) edged the pacesetting Smokinmombo (Aaron Merriman) in 2:00.
Sweet Shurga is owned by Robert J. Key and is trained by Norm Parker.
Lifetime Pursuit Takes $89,475 Buckette
The 2014 Hambletonian Oaks champion Lifetime Pursuit continued her ways with a 12 ¾ length victory in the Buckette for sophomore filly trotters.
Yannick Gingras eased the 1-9 choice out of post seven and cleared to the lead by the quarter in :28.2. The pair were never threated in the splits of :56.4 and 1:25.1. Lifetime Pursuit sprinted home in :28.3 to trip the timer in 1:53.4. Bikini So Teeny (Charlie Norris) was second and Yoga (Brett Miller) was third.
The daughter of Cantab Hall scored for the eighth time in 13 seasonal starts for Brittany Farms.
Rock N Randall (Ronnie Wrenn, Jr.) went gate-to-wire to capture the final division of the $64,634 (div) OBC for freshman colt pacers.
Rock N Randall defeated a late charging Danger Storm (Ron Pierce) and Dyno Mite Man (David Miller) in 1:58.1.
Ollie Pop (Aaron Merriman) scored an upset win in the first $32,317 division in 1:56.4.
It was a Miller family reunion in the winner’s circle after the second division of the $60,134 (div.) three-year-old filly trot. David Miller guided Rose Run Princess to victory in 1:58.1. The Trainforthefuture lass is trained by David’s daughter, Devan. Turbochargedroxie (Dan Noble) and Anniesbluejeanbaby (Greg Grismore) completed the trifecta.
The first division went to upsetter Autumn Estelle (Hugh Beatty) who edged the heavy favorite Sandys Victory (Josh Sutton) in 2:00.
Rompaway Galaxy (Mike Micallef) and Count Full Mac (Ronnie Wrenn, Jr.) took divisions of the $61,334 (div) Ohio Breeders Championships for three-year-old colt trotters.
