Fewer and fewer top 2-year-olds are carrying their form to their 3-year-old seasons. Whether that is because of grinding schedules, greater speed or whatever, it is a fact that in recent years the fastest and richest 2-year-olds do not win the major 3-year-old classics including the Little Brown Jug.

Another interesting trend is that the two mid-season one-million dollar events, the North America Cup and the Meadowlands Pace, have not produced a Jug winner since Precious Bunny in 1991. However, last year, Blissfull Hall did race and win on the same card at Woodbine as the North America Cup and did win his elimination of the Meadowlands Pace, he finished seventh in the final.
