By Tom White Little Brown Jug contenders Gallo Blue Chip and Jersey Bouncer joined Mr Prez as Meadowlands Pace elimination winners Saturday at The Meadowlands. Six of the 10 Meadowlands Pace qualifiers are eligible to the Little Brown Jug, September 21 at Delaware, Ohio. Gallo Blue Chip, who already has won the $1,000,000 North America Cup, $300,000 Burlington and $225,000 Cleveland Classic in recent weeks, powered to a 2 3/4 length victory in 1:50.1 over Ain't No Stopn Him. Driven by Daniel Dube, the Magical Mike gelding led most of the way for his fifth victory in 10 starts this season. PB Bullville, who was supplemented into the Meadowlands Pace for $150,000, broke stride in the first turn and finished last. Jersey Bouncer, who went postward at 18-1 odds in the first $50,000 division for driver Jack Moiseyev, won for the first time this season in six starts in 1:51.2. The gelded son of Presidential Ball prevailed by a head over High On Emotion. "I was third over turning for home and was happy with that because the hose on the inside seemed tired," said Moiseyev. "I asked him for pace and he paced strong through the wire." Non-Jug eligible Mr Prez captured the third division at odds of 18-1 in 1:50.3 by a neck over Tyberwood for his second win in 10 starts this year. "He's a real small horse, and you can't do anything fancy with him," said driver George Brennan. "You have to be conservative with him." Mr Prez is not eligible to the Little Brown Jug but will race in the Cane Pace, the first leg of the Triple Crown. Should Mr Prez win the Cane Pace, his owner could supplement him into the Jug for a fee of $35,000. The Firepan, the 2-1 favorite, faded to eighth. The $1,150,000 Meadowlands Pace Final will be Saturday, July 15 at The Meadowlands.
