By Tom White Last year's juvenile colt champion Tyberwood and new track record holder Astreos won eliminations for the $331,350 Cane Pace Final on Saturday at Freehold Raceway. The Cane Final, the first leg of Pacing's Triple Crown , will be raced at the central New Jersey oval on Labor Day afternoon, Sept. 4. The Cane Pace winner will advance to the Little Brown Jug on Sept. 21 at Delaware, Ohio. The third leg of the Series is the Messenger Pace on Oct. 14 at Ladbroke at The Meadows. Any horse that sweeps the Pacing Triple Crown will earn a $250,000 bonus. The winner of the Cane Pace can race in the Jug even if he is not eligible by paying a supplementary fee of $35,000. Gallo Blue Chip, the 3-year-old pacing division leader who has won both the $1,000,000 North America Cup and $1,150,000 Meadowlands Pace, also won on Saturday. Gallo Blue Chip took a $57,000 division of the New York Sires Stakes in 1:54.4 at Yonkers Raceway.
