Gallo Blue Chip Remains Even Money Choice In USTA's Final Odds Line For Little Brown Jug
September 9th, 2000 Delaware, Ohio--Millionaire Gallo Blue Chip remains an even money choice to win the $560,000-estimated Little Brown Jug according to the final line produced by the U.S. Trotting Association. Astreos, second to Powerful Toy in last week's Cane Pace and runnerup to Gallo Blue Chip in the Meadowlands Pace, is the second choice at odds of 6-1. The 55th Little Brown Jug will be raced Thursday afternoon, September 21, at the Delaware, Ohio County Fairgrounds. The Jug is the second leg of Pacing's Triple Crown. Powerful Toy, 12-1 in the final USTA line, won the Cane Pace, the first jewel in the Series. The Messenger, scheduled for October 14 at Ladbroke at The Meadows, rounds out the Crown. Should Powerful Toy sweep all three legs, as did Blissfull Hall in '99, his owners would earn a $250,000 bonus. Gallo Blue Chip is a gelded son of 1994 Jug champion Magical Mike. He is owned by Martin Scharf of Lawrence, NY and trained by Mark Ford. The gelding has 10 victories in 16 starts this season and 2000 earnings of $1.564,802. Daniel Dube has driven Gallo Blue Chip in all of his starts including both $1 million events for sophomore pacers, the North America Cup and Meadowlands Pace. Gallo Blue Chip drew the outside No. 9 post for his $102,000 division of the Jug Preview Saturday night at Scioto Downs. Here is the final odds line for the Little Brown Jug:
