Roger Huston In Hall Of Fame February 20, 2001 Roger Huston, longtime track announcer for the Little Brown Jug and the Delaware County Fair, will be enshrined later this year in the Writers Corner of the Hall of Fame in Goshen. NY. Huston, a native of Xenia, Ohio, was honored during the recent U.S. Harness Writers dinner at Pompano Park in Florida. Members of the U.S. Harness Writers Association elected Huston to the prestigious Writers Corner. He will be inducted into the Hall of Fame at an award ceremony in July at Goshen, NY. A year ago Huston was honored by the Little Brown Jug Society as its 16th "Wall of Fame" honoree. During a 40-year career Roger has announced more than 126,000 races on three continents and in September he will call his 34th Little Brown Jug. In 1967, Huston replaced Charlie Hinkle as the announcer for the Little Brown Jug. He has served as track announcer at Ladbroke at The Meadows, Pompano Park and The Red Mile at Lexington, KY. Huston is a past president of the Harness Publicists Association and received that group's "Golden Pen Award" in 1993. Huston has two daughters, Nevele Nicole and Cami Sue, and a stepson, Troy McDougal. |
