Hawaiian Cowboy and driver Luc Ouellette grabbed the lead soon after the
first  quarter and went on to win the $200,000 Nat Christie Memorial at
Calgary's Stampede Park. The Western Hanover colt stretched out to a 4 1/2
lengths victory over Ma Belle Hall and Mortified.

Hawaiian Cowboy, trained by Brian Pinske, is owned by Brian Pinske
Stable, R and D Samson Stable and White Birch Farm, has now won three times
in 11 starts this season, and Sunday's $100,000 paycheck swelled his lifetime
earnings to $601,275. The bulk of his money came when he finished second to
Bettor's Delight in the $1,148,500 North America Cup Final at Woodbine.

Non-Jug eligibles won both $57,616 elims of Saturday's Cane Pace at
Freehold Raceway. However, five of Monday afternoon's starters in the
$300,000 Final may be Delaware, Ohio bound.

Four Starzzz Shark won the first elimination in 1:53.3 by four lengths
over JK Bandit, Lotsa Clout and Royal Art. All but the winner are eligible to
the Jug. On The Attack took the second elim by one length over Jug eligible
Full Of Fun in 1:53.1. Gunthatwonthewest finished third over Jug eligible
Keen Mind.

The 56th Little Brown Jug is only 23 days off and a few major events
remain to settle the question...who's starting and who isn't.

The $40,000 Hayes Memorial is slated for Saturday, September 1 at Du
Quoin, Il; the $145,000 Kentucky Sires Stakes Final is Sunday, September 2 at
Bluegrass Downs; and Monday's Labor Day afternoon $300,000 Cane Pace is at
Freehold Raceway in New Jersey. The Cane Pace is the first leg of Pacing's
Triple Crown Series followed by the Jug on September 20 and the Messenger
Pace on October 27 at The Meadows.

The final weekend of pre-Jug competition is Saturday, September 8. Scioto
Downs is the site of the $200,000 Jug Preview and Mohawk Raceway in
Campbellville, Ontario plays host to the $254,000 Simcoe Stakes. Heavy Jug
favorite Real Desire is expected to race in the Simcoe.
