Of Little Brown Jug Society September 19, 2001 Delaware, Ohio---Phil Terry, marketing director for the Little Brown Jug, and Hall of Fame horseman John Campbell were elected Tuesday to the board of directors of the Little Brown Jug Society. Society directors also agreed to study the purse distribution of the second heat and race-off of the Little Brown Jug and to make recommendations to the entire LBJ Society board. At present, a horse that wins the second heat of the Jug but loses in the final, can earn more purse money than the winner. Second heat winners Looking For Art in 1999 and George Scooter in 2000 both earned more than race-off winners Blissful Hall and Astreos. The Society directors also will study the purse distribution in the race-off. The present rule calls for the race winner to receive 10 per cent of the total purse. Terry, who has resided in Delaware since attending Ohio Wesleyan University, joined the Delaware staff in 1968 as a parking attendant. He has served as director security, director of simulcasting and director of marketing. Terry replaces the late Robert Evans of Delaware. Campbell has won three Little Brown jug championships, with Merger, Life Sign and Nick's Fantasy. He has won 13 heats and $1,205,197 and has driven horses in 20 different Little Brown Jugs. Campbell replaces William C Kraner, who resigned. |
