DELAWARE, OHIO --Only once, in 1995, have Little Brown Jug officials
been forced to use the "limited field" provision in the stakes conditions.
That year, 31 three-year-old pacers were entered forcing the judges to limit
the number of starters to the 30 highest lifetime money winners.

Twelve different three-year-old colts and geldings have won major events
during this season's "Road to the Little Brown Jug." According to some
horsemen, this forecasts into a large number of Jug entries when judges open
the entry box Saturday morning, September 14 in the log cabin at the
Delaware, Ohio Fairgrounds.

The 57th Little Brown Jug will be raced Thursday afternoon, September 19
at the Delaware, Ohio County Fair. The six day Grand Circuit racing kicks off
Saturday, September 14.

A few weeks ago North America Cup winner Red River Hanover and
Meadowlands Pace champion Mach Three seemed in control of the division . Si
nce winning the $1.5-million NA Cup, Red River Hanover has been in a
slump. Then, in last Sunday's $519,000 Confederation Cup, Meadowlands Pace
victor Mach Three tired badly in the stretch and finished fifth to stablemate
Art Major and Adios winner Million Dollar Cam.

Saturday's two $61,531 eliminations of the Cane Pace, first leg in
Pacing's Triple Crown, is next up for Jug hopefuls. Fifteen colts and
geldings will be trying to earn spots in the $350,000 Cane Final on Labor Day
afternoon, September 2 at Freehold Raceway. Early favorites figure to be
Hoosier Cup-Confederation Cup winner Art Major; Adios winner Million Dollar
Cam; and McArdle, one of the division's top colts who supplemented into the
Cane Pace. Should McArdle win the Cane Final, his owners have stated that
they will supplement McArdle into the Jug at a fee of $45,000.
