Medoland Miracle Completes Triple Crown Sweep

Delaware, Ohio--Medoland Miracle completed her sweep of Ohio’s Triple
Crown in decisive fashion Monday afternoon at the Delaware, Ohio County Fair.
The Striking Sahbra two-year-old trotting filly crushed nine rivals by 10 1/4
lengths in a division of the $81,056 Ohio Breeders Championship. Despite
starting from the second tier, Medoland Miracle shot into first by 12 lengths
at the top of the stretch and coasted to her seventh win of the season over
Strike Ten (Don McKirgan) and Mystic Joann (Randy Tharps).

    Earlier this year the Northmedo Stable filly had won the Ohio State Fair
juvenile trot at Scioto Downs and last Saturday captured the $100,000 Ohio
Sires Stakes Championship in 1:59.2, also at Scioto Downs. Jamie Dunlap drove
for the Northmedo Stable of Painesville, Ohio and trainer Mike Medors.

    Lookoutmom, a half-sister to former Ohio Horse of the Year
Ilooklikemymom, rushed past Striking Page (Dave Hawk) in the final strides of
the second division of the OBC juvenile filly trot. Striking Page had led
until the final strides when Lookoutmom, piloted by Ron Steck, put her neck
in front at the wire in 2:01.4. The winner is owned by Johanna and Charles
Beaver of Delaware, William Otstot of Springfield, and Rita Condit of
Westerville. Lookoutmom paid $9.60, 4.60, 3.60.

    Racing resumes at 12-noon Tuesday featuring the $45,410 Standardbred
two-year-old filly trot and the $52,510 Standardbred for freshman colt
trotters.
 
            Message Machine Sets Season’s Record

    Message Machine closed steadily through the stretch to win the fastest of
three divisions of the $92,958 Ohio Breeders Championship for two-year-old
colt and gelding trotters in a season’s record 2:00.3 at the Delaware, Ohio
County Fair. Air Touch won his OBC division in 2:01.4 and End The Chase
scored in 2:01.3.

`   Message Machine, driven by David Myers, picked up his second victory in 9
career starts by one length  over Thatsallhewrote (Jim Dailey)and Over The
Wire (Luc Ouellette). Gal’s Lucky Nooner, who won last Saturday’s $100,000
Ohio Sires Stakes Final, broke stride twice and finished eighth. Message
Machine is a son of Carry The Message and is owned by C.J. Miller of Columbus
and E.T. and S. Martin of Aberdeen, N.C. The winner returned $44.40, 12.80,
7.20. William Emerson is the trainer.

    Air Touch, a colt by Striking Sahbra owned by James Glass of Danville, KY
and Bob Kauffman of Columbus, led from gate to wire for David Hawk to score
his third season’s victory in seven outings. Air Touch defeated Bad Boy Leroy
(Russell Swartz) and Final Legacy (Daniel Reynolds) by 1 1/4 lengths and paid
$3.00, 2.60, 2.10. Danny Collins is the trainer.

    End The Chase trotted from far off the pace to edge Striking Merf Don
McKirgan) and Rose Run Editor (Ronald Randall) by a head for his first career
triumph in 10 outings. The Sand Chaser gelding is owned by Wyandot Golf Club
and Thomas York, Jr.  and trained by Jim Arledge, Jr. Del S. Miller guided
End The Chase who returned $14.00, 5.40, 3.60.
