Delaware, Ohio--Hambletonian champion Chip Chip Hooray set a world record
of 1:54.3 in winning yesterday’s $122,310 Old Oaken Bucket three-year-old
colt and gelding trot at the Delaware, Ohio County Fair. Dayton, Ohio native

winning by 8 1/4 lengths over Crown Prince Gar with Cosington third.

The clocking of 1:54.3 broke the old world record of 1:55.4 set at
Delaware in 1994 by Incredible Abe.

“He really felt good today,” said trainer-co-owner Chuck Sylvester. “We
raced him without shoes. He’s just so much better without shoes.” Sylvester
plans to take the son of Pine Chip to Lexington and the Kentucky Futurity.
“He’ll be racing against the big boys down there, but they’ll know he was in
the race.”

The smallish colt is owned by Sylvester, Mike Prakas, Winged Foot Farms
and Neal Goldman.
