Jug Contenders Battle In American-National-Rooney Elims

On Saturday, Yankee Cruiser, Armbro Animate and Big Money Man (non-LBJ eligible) won $28,000 eliminations for the American-National at Balmoral Park and No Pan Intended and The Globe captured $45,664 elims of the Art Rooney Memorial at Yonkers Raceway. The championships of both events will be held this Saturday.

Armbro Animate led from gate to wire to edge Dr Drew by a nose in the first elim in 1:50.4 and North America Cup winner Yankee Cruiser topped Execujet by three in 1:51.2 in the second elim. Big Money Man scored a neck decision over Art's Chip in 1:51.2 in the third elimination.

No Pan intended scored by 2 3/4 lengths over Brooklyn Hanover and Allamerican Captor in 1:54 in the first Rooney elim. The Globe won by a neck over Build A Fire and Coastocoast Yankee in 1:55 in the second Rooney qualifier.
