ARMBRO ANIMATE UPSETS IN $265,416 ADIOS
Delaware, Ohio--Little Brown Jug hopeful Armbro Animate ($32.60), who
finished third in his elimination, won the $265,416 Final of the Delvin Miller
Adios for John Campbell in 1:52.2 over Jug eligibles General Challenge, The
Globe and Whatanartist. Heavy favorite Jr. Mint won his elimination in 1:52.1,
but finished last in the Final.
Armbro Animate, a son of Artsplace owned by Arlene and Jules Siegel, is
trained by Jim Campbell. Iced Yankee won the first elim in 1:52 and General
Challenge took the second in 1:52.1. Both are trained by Joe Holloway,
Jr. Mint took the third qualifier as Armbro Animate finished third.
Three $22,000 New Jersey Sires Stakes were raced Saturday afternoon at
Freehold Raceway. Jug hopefuls Escape Notice (1:55.1) and Rob Roy Mattgregor
(1:54.1) were victorious. On Friday at Maywood Park Dr. Drew won easily for Dale
Hiteman in 1:54.1 while The Force Of Magic finished last.
The "Road to the Jug" continues
Saturday, August 16th, with the $250,000 Cleveland
Classic at Northfield Park and on Sunday with the $600,000 Confederation Cup at
Flamboro Downs.
Jugette Hopefuls Gordon's Gin Ms & Cheshire
Kitty Win
Gordon's Gin Ms defeated Kissed By A Fool in a $52,000 Division of the
Adioo Volo for her sixth victory in eight starts this year for trainer Ray Van
Dreason. Her time of 1:52 equaled The Meadows' track record for age, sex and
gait. Cheshire Kitty scored her second lifetime victory in winning her division
in 1:54 over Shoobeedobeedo. Non-Jugette eligible Her Own Art edged Keystone
Impulsive in 1:52.3 in the third division.
Four Starzzz Shark A 1:49.3 Winner In Canada
Four Starzzz Shark helped his Magical Mike credentials with a 1:49.3 triumph
in an elimination for next week's Canadian Pacing Derby at Woodbine. Art Major
defeated Peruvian Hanover and McArdle in 1:50.2 in the second elim.
At Scioto Downs, Magical Mike contender Brad's Gold notched his seventh
straight victory and pushed his earnings to $444,000 with a 1:52.3 clocking.
