Ohio-Owned, Trained And Driven No Pan Intended Looking To Become 1st Buckeye Jug Winner Since 1973
By Tom White

Not since 1973 has an Ohio-owned colt won the Little Brown jug. Melvin's
Woe, owned by Thurman Downing of Shaker Heights, Ohio, and trained and driven
by Hall of Famer Joe O'Brien, captured the Jug 30 years ago over Faraway Bay
and Armbro Nesbit.
That could change if Ohioan Bob Glazer's No Pan Intended continues his
late season charge. No Pan Intended is also trained and driven by Ohio natives,
Ivan Sugg and David Miller, respectively. Glazer is from Pepper Pike, Ohio, a
suburb of Cleveland.
No Pan Intended won Monday's $331,000 Cane Pace Final--the first jewel in
Pacing's Triple Crown--by 1 1/2 lengths over outsider Tidal Wave, who was
another length in front of pre-race favorite Allamerican Native. The Pacific
Fella colt won over Freehold's half-mile track in 1:53.3.
The $600,000-est. Little Brown Jug is the second leg of Pacing's Triple
Crown and will be raced Thursday afternoon, September 18 at the Delaware, Ohio
County Fair. The Messenger pace on October 18 at The Meadows rounds out the
Series.
Glazer's colt has won four of his last five starts and nine in 12 outings
this season. Bred by Winbak Farm, No Pan Intended was a $150,000 Tattersalls
Sales yearling. The colt is by Pacific Fella and has banked $475,159 this year
and $591,042 overall.
In 1999, Glazer started North America Cup and Meadowlands Pace winner The
Panderosa, but the colt wasn't right that afternoon, and finished eighth in
his Jug elimination.
Another probable Jug starter, Dr Drew, won the $93,608 Kentucky Sires
Stakes Final On Sunday at Players Blue Grass Downs. The Jenna's Beach Boy colt
led from gate to wire to win by one length over Largeandincharge. The 1:52.4
victory was Dr. Drew's fourth in 16 starts for trainer-driver Joe
Seekman. Dr.
Drew and Seekman won in 1:49.4 earlier this year at Lexington's Red Mile.
