FUTURE WIN WAGERING ANNOUNCED
FOR LITTLE BROWN JUG & JUGETTE
By Tom White
5/12/04
Delaware, Ohio--The Delaware County Fair is promoting a future win wager for
both the 2004 Little Brown Jug and the Jugette Filly Pace. The new wagering
format allows racing fans to bet early on all three-year-olds who are eligible
to the Little Brown Jug and Jugette races. The minimum bet is $2.00 and all Jug
and Jugette Future Wagers are win betting only.
Delaware County Fair Marketing Director Phil Terry will have a team of racing
analysts and handicappers select 23 horses and the 24th choice will be the
mutual field consisting of all other horses eligible to both races. The horses
included in each of the three wagering pools will be listed in alphabetical
order.
"This is the first time a future wager has ever been offered in harness
racing," said Terry, "although there has been future betting on the Kentucky Derby
for many years."
There will be three separate betting pools for the Little Brown Jug and
Jugette Future Wagers in the months leading up to the race with the winner of each
pool being determined by the official first place finisher in the 2004 Jug
(September 23) and Jugette (September 22).
Each of these pools will be offered for a period of four days. The first will
be the weekend after the North America Cup, the second will be the weekend
after the Meadowlands Pace, and the third will be the last weekend in August,
the weekend of the Cane Pace elims.
Each of the these pools will be offered for a period of four days as follows:
12 p.m. June 24 through 11:30 p.m. June 27.
12 p.m. July 22 through 11:30 p.m. July 25.
12 p.m. August 26 through 11:30 p.m. August 29.
The official fields for each of the Little Brown Jug and Jugette Future
Wagers will be released at the standard time of 48 hours before the start of
wagering. At that time, past performance and program information also will be made
available.
All Little Brown Jug and Jugette Future Wagers will be merged through the
Ohio Hub located in Grove City, Ohio. For contract and operational information
contact Phil Terry (740) 363-3754 or Simulcasting Director Jason Settlemoir
(614) 492-5106. For up-to-date information on Jug eligibles visit the Little Brown
