Delaware, Ohio--The first of three future win wagering pools for the 2004 Little Brown Jug and Jugette Filly Pace are complete and the colt Western Prince (9/2) is the favorite in the Jug pool and Apple Krisp (3-1) received the most betting support among the Jugette fillies.

Western Prince, the surprising early Jug favorite, was third in both his North America Cup elimination and North America Cup Consolation. Unraced at two and trained by Chris Ryder, the Western Hanover colt has three firsts, one second and five thirds in 11 career starts with earnings of $64,366 and a record of 1:53.4 taken at The Meadowlands. Apple Krisp, trained by Don Swick, recently won her division of a New Jersey Sires Stakes in 1:49.4.

The Jug "Field" at final odds of 7-1 was the third choice among bettors throughout North America. The field includes every three-year-old pacer in North America (except for the 23 horses named by the panel of experts) including such non-jug eligibles as North America Cup winner Mantacular, Georgia Pacific and Quik Pulse Mindale. The Jugette Field, second at odds of 9-2, includes all fillies eligible to the filly classic (with the exception of the 23 fillies named earlier by the group of analysts).

The 34th Jugette will be raced Wednesday afternoon, September 22, and the 59th Little Brown is scheduled for Thursday afternoon, September 23 at the Delaware, Ohio County Fairgrounds.

The second Jug-Jugette future win wagering period will be the weekend following the Meadowlands Pace (July 22-25) and the third pool will be the weekend of the Cane Pace eliminations (August 26-29).
