Tady Strikes Again Captures OBC, Ohio Triple Crown

Tady Strikes Again (Brett Miller) captured the first division of the $56,566
Ohio Breeder's Championship for three-year-old filly trotters on the opening
day of the Grand Circuit Meeting at the Delaware County (OH) Fairgrounds. The
Striking Sahbra daughter is owned by Barnett Zimmerman of Deerfield, IL. Her 1
3/4 length victory in 1:59 2/5 also secured the Ohio Triple Crown. Tady Strikes Again earlier captured the $100,000 Ohio
Sires Stake Final and $75,900 (div) Ohio State Fair Stakes.
The second division went to That Flying Angel (Jim Dailey) in 1:58 2/5. The
Striking Sahbra filly benefited from a number of breakers and cruised to a 7
1/2 length victory over Striking Elegance (Kenny Kidd) and Lilting Lily (Ben
Miller). That Flying Angel is owned by Dale Leu and Jim Mullinix, who also serves
as her trainer.
Freshman Filly OBC
Scoot To Connect (Dave Palone) used a :28 last quarter and edged My Awesome
Babe (Jim Dailey) by a neck to take the first division of the $95,115 Ohio
Breeders Championship for freshman filly pacers. The winning time of 1:56 3/5 was
a lifetime mark for the daughter of Village Connection. Scoot To Connect is
owned by the Matt-e-Mike Stable of Gallipolis, OH.
The second division was captured by Goa B B (Sam Noble III) in 1:59 2/5. The
Cam's Magic Trick filly scored for the fourth time in 2004 and increased her
seasonal winnings to $47,522.
The final $31,705 division went to Ameripantragedy (Brett Miller) in a photo
finish over One Wild Woman (Bob Harper) in 1:57 3/5. The homebred daughter of
Broadway Jate is owned by the Peter Pan Stable of Pepper Pike, Ohio.
Aged OBC To Give'em The Ax
Give'em The Ax (Hugh Beatty, Jr.) picked a great time to collect his first
seasonal victory as the gelded son of Armbro Iliad captured the $18,400 OBC for
four and five year-old trotters.
As the gates' wings folded, Lisa's Laser (Jim Dailey) took control of the
field through the fractions of :28 4/5, :58 2/5, and 1:27 2/5. As the field
passed the 3/4 mile pole, Give'em The Ax came out of the two hole and took after
the leader. Give'em The Ax and Lisa's Laser trotted in tandom down the lane
with Give'em The Ax getting the last call in a National Season's record time of
1:56 4/5. Give'em The Ax is owned by Charles Guiler, Charles Wingfield, Antonios Xenikis and Steven McCoy, all of Ohio.
Seven Divisions Of Billings Contested
Bob Troyer gained a valuable 13 points in the season long points standings of
the Billings Amateur Driving Series with his victory in the seventh and final
division with Candacraigh in 2:00 2/5. Troyer came into the race second in
the Midwest Division points standings and was just 4 points behind leader Bud
Hatfield, who finished second with Durock in the second division.
Other Billings winners included; Toss The Dice (John Ryan Melsheimer), Cut
The Bull (David Ehrenberg II), Time Inthe Box (Greg Keidel), Little Man Fred
(Scott Woogen), Tuscarora Bolser (George Bonomo) and Royal Sugar (Katie
Haug).
Miller Takes Fouts Memorial
Ohioan Gene Miller guided The French-Man to a two length victory in the Tim
Fouts Memorial Amateur Driving Championship. Miller, representing the Great
Lakes Amateur Association, sent the gelded son of Jake And Elwood after the early
lead and went gate to wire in 2:01. Touch C Brenda (Randy Ingrassia - Yonkers
Driving Club) and Mobile Net (Robert Davidson, Jr. - Capital Area Drivers
Association) took the place and show spots.
