A $100,000 “New Century” Championship Series for two and three-year-old Ohio-sired colts and fillies will begin during the 2005 Delaware, Ohio County Fair. There will be eight divisions for two and three-year-old colts and fillies, trotters and pacers.

“This new series will provide more racing opportunities for Ohio-sired colts and fillies,” said Kent Hastings of the Fair Board who is the author of the new series. “Also, all starters are eligible to earn points for the “Night of Champions” at Northfield Park.”

To be eligible for the “New Century” Championship Series all colts and fillies must be sired by a stallion registered with the Ohio State Racing Commission during the year of conception. This series is separate from the OBC’s. Horses nominated to the OBC’s are NOT automatically nominated to the “New Century” Championship Series. It is a separate event

This new series does not affect the Ohio Breeders (OBC) Championship Series for two and three-year-olds that will be raced during the September 17-24 Delaware County Fair. However, the OBC Consolation events will not be raced. All late closing and overnight events for two and three-year-olds have also been eliminated.

Overnight events for older horses will be scheduled and announced at a later date. The Magical Mike Pace is scheduled for Thursday, September 22 and the My Lady aged mare pace will be raced Sunday, September 18.

All owners of horses nominated to the series must be members of the Delaware County Fair Championship Series (DCFCS) at time of nomination--February 15th. The $25 membership fee includes free admission to the Delaware County Fair on all race days including the Little Brown Jug to be raced Thursday, September 22nd.

A $50 nominating fee is due February 15, 2005 (along with the $25.00 membership fee for each owner). A $50 sustaining payment is due April 15, 2005. The starting fee is $200.
