Delaware, OH--Construction is progressing on schedule for the new Jugette Barn being built at the Delaware, Ohio County Fairgrounds. LaVerne Hill is donating the funds needed to finance the construction as a memorial to her late husband Charlie Hill.

"Construction is going according to schedule," said Phil Terry, director of marketing for the fair. "Everything will be ready for the 2005 Jugette which will be raced Wednesday afternoon, September 21. Mrs. Hill visited the Fair this past week and was especially pleased."

The new LaVerne A. Hill Jugette Barn is located between the log cabin and the Thomas Walsh Jug Barn. The new barn will have 30 stalls and a special area to display Jugette and Delaware historical harness racing memorabilia.

"I can not think of a better way or place to create a memorial to Charlie," said Mrs. Hill." He loved the Jug, Jugette and Grand Circuit racing at Delaware." The Hill's colt Falcon Almahurst was a heat winner and finished third to Happy Escort in the 1978 Little Brown Jug.
