Eternity’s Delight Takes Jugette In Straight Heats

Eternity’s Delight  and David Miller swept the two-heats to capture the $252,000 Jugette Wednesday afternoon in front of 13,267 hardy fans in chilly Delaware, Ohio.

 

The three-year-old daughter of Bettor’s Delight is owned by Arlene & Jules Siegel of New Hope, PA. The Siegel’s also owned the 2005 Jugette champion, Just Wait Kate.

 

“This filly is right at the top all season,” noted winning trainer Travis Alexander. “Today she got her due.”

 

As the gates wings opened for the $120,960 second heat, Luc Ouellette hustled Xhilaration out of the five hole and challenged Western Gallie (Yannick Gingras) through the soft opening quarter in :28.2. Eternity’s Delight grabbed the lead past the quarter pole and led the field of nine through a half in :57.1 and the three quarters in 1:24.3. Art’s Temptress (George Brennan) used a first over move to secure second place, 3/4 lengths behind the winner. Western Gallie and Future Destiny (Ron Pierce) rounded out the top four. The final time was 1:53.2.

 

In the first heat, Western Gallie and Art’s Temptress battled from the start and raced in tandem through the wicked fractions of :26.1, :53.4, and 1:22.3. The eventual winner sat back in mid-pack watching the front end action. Eternity’s Delight was parked fifth at the three quarter pole and caught the tiring leaders with a :29.3 last quarter to win in 1:52.4. Western Gallie and Art’s Temptress completed the trifecta.

 

Local Filly Takes $100,000 (div) Buckette

Bee Line, owned by Delaware, Ohio’s Johanna Beaver, cruised to a 1:56.4 victory in the Buckette for 3-year-old filly trotters.

 

Luc Ouellette guided the daughter of Self Possessed through fractions of :29, :57.4 and 1:27.4. Velma K (David Miller) sat behind the eventual winner but would not get closer than the final margin of two lengths. Baby American (Richard Stillings) took the show spot. 

 

The jubilant wining owner summed up the effort, “It is fun to win at home.”

 

With the victory, Bee Line improved her career earnings to $364,344. 

 

In the first $50,000 division, John Campbell continued his hot streak by guiding Love On The Rocks to victory in 1:58.

 

As the gates wings folded, Ron Pierce hustled Southwind Felician to the early lead. Love On The Rocks took control of the field just past the opening quarter in :29.1. The sophomore daughter of Donerail controlled the fractions of :59.1 and 1:29.4 and held off a last quarter challenge by Holyrood (Luc Ouellette) to score a 3 1/4 length victory. Winning Sister (David Miller) was 4 lengths back in third

 

“Last year I drove this filly at two and I don’t think I kept her on stride,” noted Campbell. “She is now very easy to drive. She felt strong today and trotted through the wire.” Campbell

 

Love On The Rocks is owned by trainer Charles Sylvester and Neal Goldman.

 

Long shot Takes $100,000 Miss Versatility Final

Lavec Dream set a world record of 1:55.2 in winning the $100,000 inaugural Miss Versatility Aged Mare Trot.

 

Lavec Dream, who closed at odds of 45-1, returned $98.60, $29.20, $25.80. The 5-year-old mare also combined with Godess Of Chaos and Small Favors to produce

a $10,713 trifecta.

 

Owned, trained and driven by Peter Kleinhans of Flemington, NJ, Lavec Dream

broke the world and track record of 1:56.2 set at Delaware, OH in 1997 by Duo Val Car.  The victory offset 8th and 6th place finishes in the first two legs of the Miss Versatility Series.  The Series is sponsored by Jeff Gural and Allerage Farms of New York.  Gural also owns Tioga Downs and Vernon Downs, sites of the first two legs of the Miss Versatility Series.  Kleinhans is race announcer at Tioga Downs.

 

$82,299 OBC 2YO Colt Pace

KF St Patrick (Russell Swartz) won for the ninth time this season in the first  division of Wednesday’s 82,299 Ohio Breeders Championship 2YO Colt pace.  The Nobleland Sam colt led from gate to wire in 1:55.3 to defeat Gerald S Sam and CC Make A Buck.  KF St Patrick, trained by Mike Medors, is owned by H. K. Kauffman and Medors.

 

Hall of Famer John Campbell collected his 133rd victory over the Delaware oval with Jet Fueled in the second OBC division.  The Jet Laag gelding edged Noble Falcon by a head in 1:55-flat.  Jet Fueled, trained by Greg Horn, won for the fifth time in seven career starts for owner Diane Stephenson.

 

Osborne’s Rabbit (Greg Grismore) held off a late charge by Extremely Fast to win the third OBC division in 1:57-flat.  The winner, a gelding by On The Attack owned by Jerome Osborne, collected his fourth win of the season for trainer Eric Hamlet.

 

$12,200 OBC Senior Open Pace

Camcoder (Jim Shelton), winless in has last six starts, scored a 1:53.3 victory in the $12,200 OBC Senior Open Trot.  The Cam’s Magic Trick five-year-old, owned by Tony Coder, turned back Maresey Doats and Caramel Dumpling.

 

$58,468 OBC 3YO Colt Trot

This Sands Hot (John Konesky III) picked up his 10th win of the season in 1:59 by 3 1/2 lengths over Master Begonia in the first division of the $58,468 OBC 3YO Colt Trot.  The Sand Chaser gelding shot to the top early and never trailed for owner G. B. Reddin. 

 

Speed Bomb (Ray Paver) upset Ohio Sires Stakes champion Master Pine in the second division of the OBC 3YO Colt Trot,  The Master Lavec colt, who finished eighth to Master Pine in last week’s $100,000 OSS Final, scored by 11/2 lengths in 1:58 for the Slaughter Racing Stable and T.E. Davis.
