Local Filly Takes $100,000 (div) Buckette

Bee Line, owned by Delaware, Ohio’s Johanna Beaver, cruised to a 1:56.4 victory in the Buckette for 3-year-old filly trotters.

Luc Ouellette guided the daughter of Self Possessed through fractions of :29, :57.4 and 1:27.4. Velma K (David Miller) sat behind the eventual winner but would not get closer than the final margin of two lengths. Baby American (Richard Stillings) took the show spot.

The jubilant wining owner summed up the effort, “It is fun to win at home.”

With the victory, Bee Line improved her career earnings to $364,344.

In the first $50,000 division, John Campbell continued his hot streak by guiding Love On The Rocks to victory in 1:58.

As the gates wings folded, Ron Pierce hustled Southwind Felician to the early lead. Love On The Rocks took control of the field just past the opening quarter in :29.1. The sophomore daughter of Donerail controlled the fractions of :59.1 and 1:29.4 and held off a last quarter challenge by Holyrood (Luc Ouellette) to score a 3 1/4 length victory. Winning Sister (David Miller) was 4 lengths back in third

“Last year I drove this filly at two and I don’t think I kept her on stride,” noted Campbell. “She is now very easy to drive. She felt strong today and trotted through the wire.” Campbell
