Jug Champion Magical Mike to Visit Delaware, Ohio Fair
During 2007 Little Brown Jug Week

DELAWARE, OH--Magical Mike, 1994 Little Brown Jug champion, will visit the Delaware, Ohio County Fairgrounds for five afternoons during the 2007 Grand Circuit meeting.  Magical Mike will stand in a stall in the Jugette barn beginning Friday afternoon, September 16 through Thursday, September 20.

Magical Mike, Breeders Crown champion at three and Dan Patch juvenile king in 1993, stands at stud at the Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, PA. The 16-year-old Magical Mike will be accompanied to Ohio by Frederick R. Hofsaess, Ph,D, professor and Standardbred Manager at DVC.  A couple of animal science students, who also serve as caretakers in the Standardbred program, will care for Magical Mike during his stay in Delaware.

A special trackside ceremony will be held on Jug Day this year to celebrate the memory of Tom Walsh, a longtime contributor to the Delaware Fair.  He helped with the funding of the Jug Barn and Jugette Barn.    Walsh bred Magical Mike at Shadowlane Farm and shared ownership of the colt with David McDuffee during his racing career.  

Fans may visit Magical Mike from 8 a.m. until after the races each afternoon and there will be many photo opportunities. 

Magical Mike won 22 of 34 career starts and earned $1,682,085.  He took a mark of 1:51.4 at two and 1:50.4 at three.  Magical Mike won the 1994 Jug in straight heats, beating Historic and Witty Dragon in 1:53 in his elimination, and defeating Island Glow and Keystone Luther in the Final in 1:52.3.  He was trained by Tom Haughton and driven by Mike Lachance.

Founded in 1896, Delaware Valley College is a private, four-year college with an enrollment of approximately 2,000 students. The school is located in central Bucks County, PA, about 30 miles north of Philadelphia and 70 miles south of New York City.
